PSA: Note 3 Devices and variants update

Starting with tonight’s nightlies, the Note 3 Qualcomm variants (collectively known as the HTLE device) are being split into 3 devices: ‘hlte’ for all GSM users, ‘hltespr’ for users of the Sprint version, and ‘hltevzw’ for users of the Verizon version. This divergence of the device is being driven by QMI and other incompatibilities between the platform, thus preventing a ‘unified’ device from working as well as we’d like.

Important: You must manually make sure you update to an appropriate build after today’s date. You cannot continue to flash the hlte build on top of your Verizon or Sprint Note 3 (GSM users are fine).

Due to how the devices report themselves to recovery, while we can place some guards in to lessen the issue, you will most likely not be blocked from installing incompatible builds – so you must be take a first step action to make sure you update appropriately. Once you are on the correct build, all future updates should behave normally. A data wipe is not require when applying the correct build.

This manual step will be required of all nightly users and users on the previously released hlte CM11 M8.

If you end up in with the wrong build on your device, you should still be able to boot, but will lose call/radio functionality. Flashing the correct build will resolve that issue, should this PSA not reach you in time.

I downloaded ES Task and let it do the recommended “Optimize” disablings, and my S3 battery / heat problems went away. It screwed up a few apps, so I re-enabled those only, and so far everything’s better.

Tired to update my sprint note 3 but it said error and told me that the update was for hltespr and that my phone is hlte. anyone knows how to fix that?

Got a feeling that m10 may be rolling out today.

Never, because use Samsung Exynos processor, and Samsung don’t release the source code of that hardware. If you want to have the Cyanogenmod support, you need to buy a phone that has Qualcomm processor (release the code), and the phone need to be famous, because famous = sales, sales = more users, and users = more support to that device.

The same than @disqus_UKUwY7cjTD:disqus for the S4 i9500. “Never, because use Samsung Exynos processor, and Samsung don’t release the source code of that hardware. If you want to have the Cyanogenmod support, you need to buy a phone that has Qualcomm processor (release the code), and the phone need to be famous, because famous = sales, sales = more users, and users = more support of the community to that device.”

It is now 1:15 PM. Running low on resources. Don’t know how much longer I can last.

  • Kirk Amvrosidis

I really hope so. This is the most delayed M build we ever had! :P

  • derb2k2

Gimme CM11 M10. (>’-')> and plz work on gs3. THANK YOU!

  • Kirk Amvrosidis

Was M9 unstable on Galaxy S3?

  • derb2k2

I never got it to work, unfortunately. I tried several workarounds because somethign was up with the installation. I posted several times in order for the devs to maybe see it and, nothing.

Blame Samsung for the lack if development of Exynos devices. They don’t exactly make it easy for the team.

  • w0lrah

This is why if you care about running custom ROMs you wait for support *before* buying the device.

Only factory AOSP devices like Nexuses (Nexii?) or Google Play Editions can be counted on to have good custom support otherwise.

  • Aurelio Diaz

But no support for the T-Mobile Galaxy S5

  • Daniel Horký

    Have you tried?

  • adami chavez

is the ‘hlte’ work for t-mobile? gsm

  • Art Centeno
